The World Police Summit Awards sit within the wider World Police Summit, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The 2026 Summit theme, "Connected for impact, uniting global policing to safeguard future generations," guides discussions on future policing models.

Across the programme, 13 categories recognise performance and innovation in policing and security work. These include Excellence in Criminal Investigation, Excellence in Road Safety, Excellence for People of Determination, Best Female Law Enforcement Officer, Best Innovative Idea in Policing and Security, Excellence in Forensics and Criminology, and Excellence in Combating Drugs.

Other categories honour Excellence in Customer Service in Policing, Best AI Application in Policing, Best Police Application, Best Community Policing Initiative and Innovation for Start-ups. Collectively, these areas reflect current operational priorities for police organisations, including digital transformation, victim support, traffic safety and inclusive services for all members of society.

World Police Summit Awards highlight leadership and innovation

A new Future Leader Award has been added for 2026, raising the total to 13 categories. This award is designed for emerging police leaders who demonstrate strategic thinking and creative problem-solving. It also mirrors the Summit’s broader focus on leadership development, innovation and excellence in global law enforcement practice.

The World Police Summit Awards are described by organisers as one of the main events of the Summit. Captain Marwan Abdullah Al Mulla, Head of Institutional Excellence at the General Department of Excellence and Pioneering at Dubai Police and Chairman of the World Police Summit Awards Team, said, "The World Police Summit Awards reflect Dubai Police’s commitment, together with its partners, to fostering a culture of excellence and innovation in policing. They provide an international platform to recognise exceptional efforts that protect communities and advance security systems."

During the World Police Summit, delegates will attend panel sessions, workshops and a specialised exhibition. These activities will address artificial intelligence in policing, cybersecurity risks and cross-border cooperation frameworks. The awards sit within this programme as a mechanism to highlight practical achievements that contribute to safer communities and more resilient security systems worldwide.
