World Law Day 2023: UAE Attorney General Emphasises Justice And Rule Of Law Commitment
Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, the UAE Attorney General, highlighted the significance of World Law Day, observed on 13th September each year. He noted that this day is not just ceremonial but a reminder to enhance global understanding of the rule of law. This principle is essential for peace and sustainable development and serves as a universal message that unites people through justice.
Chancellor Al Shamsi remarked that since its inception, the UAE has relied on law as a civilisational safeguard. "The Founding Fathers laid down an advanced Constitution that made justice and the rule of law the foundation for building the Union, with the preservation of human dignity as the basis of its journey."

The UAE's leadership, under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues to uphold this path with a strategic vision. This approach has positioned the UAE as a leader in justice by supporting judicial independence and integrating modern technologies into its justice system. The aim is to ensure justice remains swift, fair, and accessible.
The Public Prosecution plays a crucial role as society's representative and law guardian by initiating criminal proceedings and enforcing legal requirements. "At the same time, it adopts a renewed approach based on digital transformation, innovation, and the use of emerging technologies in justice, enhancing its efficiency and making its services more accessible to members of society," he added.
The Public Prosecution follows strategic directions set for 2025-2030, aligning with government priorities and the "We the UAE 2031" vision. "The goal is to build an innovative criminal justice system that strengthens the rule of law and achieves global leadership." This strategy aims to create a pioneering criminal justice framework that reinforces legal principles globally.
Al Shamsi also mentioned that celebrating World Law Day aligns with the "Year of Community 2025," where human beings are central to all initiatives. This reflects the Public Prosecution's commitment to involving society as a key partner in developing a transparent and effective justice system.
In his concluding remarks, Al Shamsi reiterated that World Law Day in the UAE is about celebrating justice and renewing its dedication to being a model in protecting rights. The country aims to consolidate legal principles while achieving fairness and humanity.
