World Governments Summit Strengthens Cooperation And Partnerships Across Latin America

The World Governments Summit (WGS) Organisation has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Latin American Centre for Public Administration and Development (CLAD). This agreement aims to boost cooperation and participation from Latin America and the Caribbean in WGS events. It also focuses on sharing experiences and best practices to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).

The MoU was signed during the 29th International State and Public Administration Reform Conference in Brasília, organised by CLAD. This partnership strengthens WGS's focus on engaging governments and organisations across Latin America. The signatories included Esther Dweck, Brazil's Minister of State for Management and Innovation in Public Services; Mohamed Al Sharhan, Managing Director of WGS; and Conrado Ramos, Secretary-General of CLAD.

WGS Promotes Partnerships in Latin America

During their visit, the WGS delegation met with Mauro Vieira, Brazil's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Saleh Ahmad Salem Alzaraim Alsuwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Brazil. They held several meetings to emphasise WGS's crucial role in shaping future governance. Al Sharhan highlighted that WGS is dedicated to fostering international partnerships and expanding collaboration globally.

Al Sharhan stated, "The UAE's delegation participation in the conference reflects the robust and growing ties with Latin America, spanning a wide range of sectors." He further noted that WGS is focused on expanding global partnerships, especially in Latin America, aligning with its mission to shape the future by uniting countries, international organisations, experts, and CEOs.

The delegation engaged with government officials and business leaders from Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. Their discussions centred on promoting cooperation with the Global South and Latin American countries. They explored potential opportunities in key sectors such as trade, technology, and climate innovation.

In Mexico, they presented an overview of WGS to members of the Mexican Senate. Gerardo Fernández Noroña, President of the Mexican Senate, was present along with María Teresa Mercado Pérez, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico. In Colombia, meetings were held with Efraín Cepeda Sarabia, President of the Colombian Senate; Saúl Cruz Bonilla, Secretary-General of the Senate; and Juan Manuel Santos.

The visit included a keynote address at the CLAD Ministerial Board meeting in Brasilia. The address focused on the future of governments and government development's significance. Ministers of Public Service and Government Development from Latin America attended this meeting.

In Colombia, Al Sharhan participated in a working lunch with RENATA network members hosted by Said Naví Lamk Beltrán. The visit concluded with an interview for "El Congreso Magazine," Colombia's leading publication on public policy. This interview highlighted WGS's growing role in fostering innovation and enhancing international partnerships.
