World Governments Summit 2025 Unveils Expanded Agenda To Empower Global Leaders In Dubai

The World Governments Summit Organisation has announced an expanded agenda for its upcoming event in Dubai, scheduled from 11 to 13 February. The theme "Shaping Future Governments" will guide discussions on global transformations, focusing on opportunities and challenges across various sectors. The Summit aims to foster shared strategies for improved government performance and international cooperation, ultimately accelerating global development and prosperity.

The 2025 Summit expects record participation, with over 30 heads of state and government, delegations from 140 governments, and representatives from more than 80 international organisations. Prominent thought leaders and experts will join over 6,000 attendees. Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit, highlighted the vision of UAE leaders to cultivate proactive governments ready for future challenges.

Expanded Agenda for World Governments Summit 2025

Al Gergawi stated: "The rapid transformations unfolding around us portend a new world with its unique set of tools, challenges, and opportunities. This demands that governments prioritize resilience and efficiency in a continuous race against time to ensure a future of sustainable progress and development for all, meeting the aspirations of generations to come."

The Summit's agenda addresses critical global challenges. H.E. Andry Rajoelina, President of Madagascar, will lead a session on tourism's future challenges. Dr. David Moinina Sengeh from Sierra Leone will discuss "The New Economic Revolution: An African Perspective." A session on economic alliances will feature Turkish Minister Mehmet Simsek and Portuguese Minister Pedro Reis.

High-level discussions include heads of governments like H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah from Kuwait and H.E. Sonexay Siphandone from Laos. The Government Experience Exchange Forum will see participation from H.E. Željka Cvijanovic of Bosnia and Herzegovina alongside other leaders.

Technology's Role in Governance

A plenary session titled "Governments in the Intelligent Age" will explore technology's impact on governance with Professor Klaus Schwab from the World Economic Forum. Elon Musk and Kristalina Georgieva will also engage in dialogues at the Summit. Sir Tony Blair will converse with Larry Ellison about reimagining technology for government use.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, will discuss digital economy advancements with Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google. Discussions on emerging economic blocs will involve Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri from the UAE and Faisal Al Ibrahim from Saudi Arabia.

Concluding Events

The final day features forums on climate change, health, and lawmaking. Pedro Alliana Rodríguez from Paraguay and Louise Araneta-Marcos from the Philippines are among those delivering keynote addresses. A session on revitalising cities post-crisis includes UNESCO's Audrey Azoulay and UAE Minister H.E. Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi.

"The Summit is committed to being the premier global platform to anticipate and explore the future," concluded Al Gergawi. It aims to develop innovative solutions through international partnerships based on scientifically grounded insights.

This year's Summit promises dynamic exchanges among global leaders as they tackle pressing issues shaping future governance worldwide.
