Narendra Modi Delivers Keynote at World Governments Summit 2024 in Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, was present for the keynote speech by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, at the World Governments Summit 2024 in Dubai. The summit, under the banner "Shaping Future Governments," saw a distinguished gathering, including H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai; and H.H. Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi commenced his address by extending his gratitude towards President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and lauded His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his visionary leadership that has positioned Dubai as a global hub for economy, commerce, and technology. He cited Expo 2020 and COP28 as prime examples of Dubai's success story.

Modi's Keynote at Dubai Summit 2024

Modi highlighted the global challenges of the 21st century, including food and water security, health, energy, education, inclusivity, and the evolving threat of terrorism. He emphasized the increased relevance of the World Governments Summit in addressing these challenges.

Reflecting on India's experience during the COVID-19 pandemic, Modi noted an increase in public trust in the government, attributing it to prioritizing people's aspirations. He proudly mentioned India's achievement in lifting 250 million people out of poverty over the past decade through transparency and governance.

The Prime Minister discussed India's adoption of technology in governance, particularly mentioning the Direct Benefit Transfer system that prevented US$33 billion from potential corruption. He also spoke about India's strides in fintech and digital payments, which have brought over 500 million people into the banking system.

On climate change, Modi shared India's multifaceted approach involving solar, wind, hydroelectricity, biofuels, and green hydrogen. He stressed the cultural importance of giving back to nature and advocated for collaborative efforts and learning at the summit to shape a sustainable future.

The session was also graced by H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan among other senior officials.

The World Governments Summit 2024 thus served as a platform for global leaders to discuss pressing issues facing humanity and explore collaborative solutions for a better future.
