World Future Energy Summit Sets Stage For Achieving COP28 Climate Objectives

This month, Abu Dhabi is set to host the World Future Energy Summit, a pivotal event organized by Masdar, aiming to build on the significant strides made during COP28 last year. The Summit, taking place from 16th-18th April at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), will focus on the 'UAE Consensus'—a comprehensive agreement reached at COP28, marking a significant step in global climate action efforts.

The Summit will feature a Climate and Environment Conference, dedicated to dissecting the outcomes of COP28 and exploring strategies for achieving carbon neutrality. Over 350 thought leaders and industry experts are expected to attend, discussing solutions across various sectors including energy, industry, transport, and supply chains.

At COP28, nations committed to an ambitious agenda: transitioning away from fossil fuels, tripling renewable energy capacity, and doubling energy efficiency improvements by 2030. The petroleum sector's pledge to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and the focus on green hydrogen as a new fuel source underscored the event's innovative spirit.

Leen AlSebai, Show Director of the World Future Energy Summit, emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in implementing the mandates set out by COP28. The Climate and Environment Conference aims to provide a comprehensive platform for examining sector-specific challenges and opportunities.

The conference will feature discussions on accelerating climate action across various sectors, including tourism, manufacturing, aviation, and healthcare. Melissa Tan, CEO of Wah & Hua and a representative at the International Solid Waste Association, will share insights on implementing climate outcomes effectively.

A fireside chat with representatives from Arabian Gulf Steel Industries, Talabat, and Zero Carbon Ventures will explore innovative strategies for carbon abatement. Anna Griffin of Arabian Gulf Steel Industries highlighted the session's focus on technology and innovation as key drivers for reducing CO2 emissions.

Additionally, the Summit will introduce a one-day conference titled 'Pathway to 1.5C' on 16th April. This segment will bring together government ministers and CEOs to discuss policy frameworks, technological innovation, and strategies for achieving a net-zero future. The event will also host forums on Green Finance and eMobility, addressing critical aspects of sustainable development.

The World Future Energy Summit thus stands as a crucial platform for advancing global climate goals post-COP28. By fostering dialogue among key stakeholders, it aims to catalyze action towards a sustainable and carbon-neutral future.
