Over 170 Abstracts Submitted For World Congress On Rehabilitation 2024 In Abu Dhabi
Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) has announced the receipt of over 170 abstracts from international institutions and experts in 58 countries. This precedes the World Congress on Rehabilitation 2024 (WCR 24), scheduled from 23rd-25th September. The event, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of ZHO, will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
This marks the first time the Congress is being held in the Middle East, with the theme ‘Work and Employment’. Organised by ZHO in partnership with Rehabilitation International (RI), the International Social Security Association (ISSA), and the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Office within the Department of Culture and Tourism, it aims to bring together leading officials in the rehabilitation sector.

The Congress will provide a platform for experts, researchers, and academics to discuss ideas and learn about best practices using advanced technology to rehabilitate and integrate people of determination into communities. A dedicated scientific committee will meticulously examine and evaluate research papers to identify those that can significantly contribute towards achieving the Congress’s objectives.
Key objectives include presenting and adopting solutions to challenges hindering the integration of people of determination in employment. Additional goals focus on promoting equality, addressing workplace marginalisation, ensuring rights are upheld, and enhancing career prospects in both public and private sectors.
The event will attract more than 1,000 international experts and specialists in the field of rights for people of determination to convene in Abu Dhabi. Topics for discussion will include affirming their rights in political and public spheres, empowering them to assume leadership positions, participate in decision-making, and help shape their future.
Focus on Education
The Congress will also emphasise that education is a fundamental right. It will underscore the importance of a comprehensive educational system for people of determination. The event aims to draw upon the experiences of countries that have successfully supported people of determination, facilitating an exchange of views and opinions related to their rehabilitation across various domains.
