Women's Race Set For Al Salam Cycling Championship On 16 February 2025 At Al Marmoom Reserve
The Women's Race, part of the ninth Al Salam Cycling Championship, is set for 16 February 2025. This event, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will be held at Al Marmoom Nature Reserve. Organised by the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, it is recognised as the largest community cycling event globally in terms of diversity and prize value.
The Women's Race is a significant part of the championship, promoting women's cycling in the UAE and beyond. Omar bin Jumaa Al-Falasi, Director-General of the Private Office of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai, leads the Supreme Organising Committee. He highlighted that two races will occur: a 107 km race for Emirati women and a 136 km race for top female cyclists from the UAE and GCC countries.

Al Tayer Motors sponsors this event, which has seen increased female participation over nine years. The championship serves as a platform to empower women in sports. It has become a key venue for women's cycling, enhancing their performance and visibility in this field.
The route through Al Marmoom Conservation Reserve meets international standards. It offers a challenging course while ensuring safety protocols are upheld with government collaboration. Omar bin JAl-Falasi emphasised that since its inception, the championship has prioritised women's races under Sheikh Mohammed's patronage. This reflects the UAE's dedication to empowering women across various sectors.
The Supreme Organising Committee received numerous applications from cyclists worldwide. This makes the Women's Race one of the most competitive events in its history. The chosen route showcases Al Marmoom's stunning landscapes, maintaining its status as a top destination for residents and visitors.
Previous Events in the Championship
The ninth edition began in December with the Sword of Honour race. This celebrated Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's graduation from Sandhurst Military Academy. It was followed by an elite men's race on 19 January 2025, covering 193 km from Al Fahidi district through Dubai's landmarks.
Strategic partners like Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Sports Channel, UAE Cycling Federation (General Referee), and Dubai Film Company collaborate to organise this championship.
The championship highlights women's crucial role in promoting healthy lifestyles within families and communities. It underscores their importance in sports development across the region.
