Winners Of Arab Social Media Influencers Award Honoured At 22nd Arab Media Forum
Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, the Arab Social Media Influencers Award ceremony honoured its winners. The event took place on the second day of the 22nd Arab Media Forum, part of the Arab Media Summit 2024.
H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, received the Influential Personality of the Year award. This recognition was for his impactful presence on social media platforms, serving humanitarian and social goals. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, presented the award to Sheikh Khalifa bin Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The Emirates Red Crescent Authority was honoured with the Community Service award for its use of social media to extend humanitarian assistance. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed presented this award.
Audience Category
Saudi media professional Abdulrahman Abumalih received the award in the Audience category. Abumalih is a prominent social media influencer and podcasting pioneer in the Arab world. He is also the CEO and editor-in-chief of Riyadh-based production company Thmanyah.
Business Entrepreneurship
The e-commerce site Ounass and its CEO Khalid Al-Tayyar were awarded in the Business Entrepreneurship category. Ounass has become a key destination for luxury shopping enthusiasts in the Gulf, exemplifying e-commerce success in the Middle East.
Sports Category
Kuwaiti professional footballer Musaed Al Fawzan was honoured in the Sports category for his sporting achievements. Al Fawzan, followed by more than 3.8 million people, presents the ‘Thirty Challenge’ talk show on his YouTube channel, hosting soccer celebrities.
Health Category
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, honoured Dr. Kareem Ali in the Health category. Dr. Ali is an Egyptian doctor specialising in clinical toxicology and forensic medicine and is one of the most followed Arab doctors on YouTube.
Entertainment Category
Sheikha Latifa also presented the award in the Entertainment category to Godus Bros, two prominent Saudi filmmakers known for their excellence in digital content and filmmaking.
Culture and Arts Category
Egyptian artist Ahmed Helmy received recognition in the Culture and Arts category. Helmy gained fame on social media by presenting comedic scenes and is now one of the most prominent comedy makers in the Arab world.
Tourism Category
The Tourism category award went to Joe Hattab, a Jordanian travel blogger and content creator who shares his experiences and adventures worldwide on various social media platforms.
Ceremony Highlights
The ceremony was attended by H.H. Sheikh Hasher bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated; Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President; and Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs. Also present were Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council; Dr. Maitha Buhumaid, Director of the Dubai Press Club; and numerous Arab digital influencers and content creators from across the region.
The event began with a rendition of a poem titled "The Hero of Peace," penned by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, dedicated to President H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Prominent Emirati singer Ahlam performed this poem.
The Arab Social Media Influencers Award was launched in 2015 under directives from H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to honour outstanding Arab digital content creators on social media. The award encourages creating exceptional content that promotes social values, spreads awareness, and inspires people.
The award includes nine categories: Entertainment, Culture and Arts, Business Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Sports, Tourism, Health, Audience category, and Influential Personality of the Year.
