WETEX 2025 Highlights Innovations To Boost Competitiveness Of Eco-Friendly Vehicles
The 27th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) is set to take place from 30th September to 2nd October 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the event focuses on electric vehicles (EVs) and sustainable mobility. This aligns with Dubai’s Green Mobility Strategy 2030, aiming to boost innovation in this sector.
WETEX 2025 will feature a significant increase in participation, showcasing advancements in green mobility across land, sea, and air. The Green Mobility Hall will highlight innovations in hydrogen technology, low-emission fuels, and AI applications that support EV adoption. These efforts aim to enhance infrastructure development for charging stations and related projects.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder of WETEX, emphasised the exhibition's role in promoting competitiveness among EV companies. He stated, "Consistent with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy and the National Electric Vehicles Policy – and in response to the rapid expansion of the EV market in the UAE and around the world – WETEX plays a pivotal role annually in promoting competitiveness among companies specialising in the EV sector."
Al Tayer also noted an increase in government and private initiatives related to sustainable mobility. He mentioned rising consumer awareness about emissions reduction and environmental benefits of EVs. This has led to growing demand for electric and hybrid vehicles as people commit to more sustainable transport options.
DEWA is working with various partners to develop infrastructure supporting green transport. This aligns with Dubai’s sustainability goals for improved air quality and reduced emissions. DEWA's EV Green Charger initiative includes over 1,500 charging points across its network. Collaboration with ENOC Group has led to the Service Station of the Future at Expo City, offering green hydrogen alongside traditional fuels.
The UAE saw a notable rise in EV sales by about 14% in 2024 compared to 2023, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Focus2Move data shows a record 260% increase in UAE EV sales during this period. The cost of lithium batteries fell by 10%, contributing to lower EV prices.
