WETEX 2024: A Global Platform For Advancing Digital Infrastructure And Sustainability
The 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2024 will feature numerous global firms focused on digital transformation and smart net-zero buildings. Organised annually by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), WETEX is held under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The event is scheduled from 1st to 3rd October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
"WETEX supports the efforts to promote digital infrastructure readiness for the future worldwide. It encourages the investment in Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, digital transformation, and exploring opportunities and challenges facing future models in various fields. This aims to ensure a greener and more sustainable future, and provide the best quality of life. The exhibition promotes the UAE's leadership in driving global change and mobilises efforts to develop, adopt and empower proactive and innovative solutions,'' Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX.
By attracting key local and international companies in digitisation, green buildings, smart grids, and smart cities, WETEX strengthens Dubai's role as a leader in the digital economy. This initiative contributes to making Dubai one of the happiest and smartest cities globally," added Al Tayer.

DEWA collaborates with Digital Dubai to offer cloud services to government entities through Moro Cloud. This service adheres to top security standards both locally and internationally. Moro Hub, part of Digital DEWA, supports organisations in their digital transformation across the UAE and Middle East. By using green carbon-neutral data centres, Moro Cloud accelerates this process while fostering innovation and reducing costs.
DEWA has established a smart grid infrastructure that offers significant environmental and economic benefits. These grids enhance energy transmission efficiency, reduce losses, and improve electrical load management. They also facilitate renewable energy integration into the grid, boosting sustainability in Dubai's energy system.
The efficient operation of DEWA’s smart grid has led to competitive results surpassing major European and American companies in efficiency and reliability. DEWA has set new global benchmarks in energy and water sectors by leading over ten Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) worldwide according to a study conducted last year by an international consultant.
Advanced Monitoring Systems
The Distribution Network Smart Centre acts as an automated hub that collects data from smart devices within the power network. It provides real-time assessments, conducts diagnostic analyses for proactive solutions, checks performance daily for each smart meter, solar system, or electric vehicle charging station using algorithms for detailed reporting.
DEWA has achieved remarkable milestones such as recording the lowest electricity Customer Minutes Lost (CML) globally at 1.06 minutes compared to about 15 minutes by leading EU utility companies. Additionally, it reduced electricity transmission losses to 2% and water network losses to 4.6%, among the lowest worldwide.
This exhibition not only highlights technological advancements but also underscores Dubai’s commitment towards sustainability through innovative solutions that align with global environmental goals.
