WETEX 2024 Day One Features 44 Seminars And Expert Panels On Energy And Sustainability

The 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) commenced with 44 seminars and panels led by global experts. Organised by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), WETEX runs from 1 to 3 October 2024 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event is held under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Day one of the Future Energy Landscape Forum, part of WETEX, concentrated on decarbonisation in the oil and gas sector. Dragon Oil presented ‘Dragon Oil’s Decarbonisation Initiatives and Opportunities’. Other sessions included ‘Challenges in Decarbonising the Oil and Gas Sector’ and ‘Innovative Solutions for Decarbonisation of the Oil and Gas Sector’. An interactive session allowed audience participation.

WETEX 2024 Day One Highlights

The first day also featured Renewables & Sustainability Seminars, emphasising renewable energy and hydrogen's role in energy transition. The Clean Energy Business Council MENA opened these sessions. Topics included ‘Setting the Stage for Renewable Growth in MENA: Policies, Progress and Potential’, ‘The Challenge of Zero Hour’, and ‘Solar Power Evolution: From Utility Scale to Distributed Energy’.

Seminars further explored hydrogen's potential with discussions on ‘Hydrogen Economy: Building Blocks for a Sustainable Energy Future’, ‘Hydrogen Transportation’, and ‘Unlocking the Potential of Green Hydrogen’. These sessions aimed to integrate green hydrogen into regional energy systems.

The Water Seminars addressed critical issues like ‘Global Water Resilience, Security and a Just Transition’ and ‘Managing Urban Flood Risk in a Changing Climate’. Other topics included ‘Optimising Energy Efficiency in Water Treatment’ and ‘Enhancing Water Security’. These discussions aimed at improving water management strategies.

The Health and Safety Hub featured panels on workplace safety, including topics like ‘Sustainable Health and Safety at the Workplace with ISO 45001’ and ‘ISO 45003: Psychological Health and Safety at Work’. Discussions also covered leadership roles in promoting workplace wellbeing.

Supplier Relations Management

Supplier Relations Management (SRM) sessions focused on DEWA’s supplier engagement strategies. These sessions highlighted DEWA’s supplier life cycle management. An open discussion was held with stakeholders from DEWA’s Supply Chain Management Department to enhance communication channels.

The Main Seminars agenda included nine sessions covering diverse topics. ACWA Power discussed 'Innovation for a Sustainable Energy Future Takes Ambition'. The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy presented 'Abu Dhabi Public Policy on Low-Carbon Hydrogen'. Siemens Energy addressed 'Managing the Renewables Integration Challenge'.

ENOC Group introduced 'ENOC Link - World’s First Smart Biodiesel Solar Station', while Masdar focused on using waste materials for high-value products. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) hosted a seminar on reducing emissions from public transport, showcasing their commitment to sustainability.

TESAR S.R.L. presented 'Ecoplus 2030 Transformer, Data Centre Application', while Siemens Energy discussed intelligent controllers for Jebel Ali Power Plant. AASA Middle East Contracting explored green hydrogen initiatives, highlighting innovative approaches to energy challenges.
