WAM Explores New Horizons In Media Collaboration With Kenyan Institutions
In a significant move to bolster media relations and cultural exchanges, a delegation from the Emirates News Agency (WAM), led by its Director-General, Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, embarked on a strategic visit to Kenya. The delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with senior officials from various Kenyan media organisations, exploring avenues for bilateral cooperation in media, knowledge transfer, and cultural exchanges.
The WAM team held meetings with key figures in the Kenyan media landscape, including Julia Majale, Managing Director at TUKO; Paul Macharia, Acting Managing Director of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC); Najib Gouiaa, CEO of MediaCity Mauritius; and Joseph Kipkoech, Director of Kenya's Directorate of Information Services. These discussions centred on enhancing media collaboration through digital media initiatives, radio programme exchanges, professional training, and sharing expertise.

Furthermore, the delegation visited the Nation Media Group and the Standard Group Plc, two of Kenya's leading media houses. These visits aimed at discussing ways to strengthen joint cooperation. Notably, the WAM delegation extended an invitation to these Kenyan media organisations to participate in the upcoming third edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in November.
The GMC is renowned for being a global platform that facilitates the exchange of experiences and expertise among institutions, companies, stakeholders, and specialists in the media field. It offers an opportunity for building partnerships and staying abreast of the latest developments and innovations at the global level.
During his visit, Alrayssi underscored WAM's commitment to forging effective partnerships with African media institutions. He highlighted the agency's aspiration to expand its media reach across Africa and beyond. This initiative is part of WAM's broader strategy to enhance its presence on both regional and international stages as a reliable source and prestigious reference in news reporting.
This visit marks a pivotal step towards achieving greater collaboration between UAE and Kenyan media organisations. It opens up new pathways for knowledge exchange and mutual growth in the ever-evolving global media landscape.
