WAM Delegation Signs Media Cooperation Agreements In Rwanda

In a significant move to bolster media relations and cooperation, the Emirates News Agency (WAM), under the leadership of Director-General Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi, recently embarked on a strategic visit to Kigali, Rwanda. This visit marked a pivotal step towards enhancing bilateral media relations between the UAE and Rwanda, showcasing a commitment to fostering international media collaboration.

The delegation's visit to Kigali was not only fruitful but also saw the signing of several key agreements with prominent Rwandan media entities. Notably, WAM entered into cooperation and news exchange agreements with The New Times newspaper and IGIHE, a leading multimedia company in Rwanda. Additionally, partnerships were established with the African News Agency (ANA) and Royal FM, which is affiliated with Mount Kigali University. These agreements are set to pave the way for a robust exchange of news and information, further enriching the media landscape in both countries.

WAM Enhances Media Ties with Rwanda

Beyond media organisations, the WAM delegation also engaged with academic institutions that are shaping the future of media in Rwanda. Visits to the Rwanda Broadcast Agency, Mount Kigali University, and the University of Rwanda provided platforms for discussions on media development, bilateral cooperation, and cultural exchanges. These interactions underscored the importance of nurturing talent and facilitating knowledge transfer between the UAE and Rwanda.

Global Media Congress Invitation

A highlight of the visit was the extension of invitations to participate in the third edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi in November 2024. The GMC is renowned for being a global platform that brings together organisations, companies, stakeholders, and media professionals from around the world. It offers unparalleled opportunities for participants to exchange experiences, forge partnerships, and stay abreast of the latest developments in the global media sector.

Commitment to International Media Relations

Director-General Alrayssi articulated WAM's dedication to establishing effective media partnerships across the globe. He emphasized the agency's aim to build a network of constructive international relations that bolster its reputation as a reliable source and prestigious news reference on both regional and international stages. This visit to Kigali is a testament to WAM's proactive approach in achieving these objectives.

The initiatives undertaken by WAM in Rwanda reflect a broader strategy to enhance media cooperation and exchange globally. By forging these new partnerships and strengthening existing ones, WAM is setting a precedent for international media collaboration that is likely to have lasting impacts on how news is shared and consumed worldwide.
