Volunteerism As A Core Pillar Of The UAE’s Humanitarian And Cultural Vision, Says Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed
Volunteerism is a key aspect of the UAE's humanitarian and cultural strategy, supported by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), highlighted this on International Volunteer Day, celebrated on 5th December.
The UAE has achieved significant global recognition in volunteerism due to its dedicated volunteers. These individuals have laid strong foundations for progress in this essential area. Sheikh Hamdan praised Emirati volunteers for spreading the UAE’s message of love and peace worldwide through their initiatives.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that volunteerism is a crucial driver for expanding humanitarian work and reinforcing its values among people. He stated, "Volunteering is a religious and national duty and a moral commitment to humanity at all times and in all places." This highlights the ethical values and educational framework inherent in volunteerism.
The UAE's leadership has inspired young people to engage in volunteer work, launching their own initiatives. These youth find role models in their leaders and fathers, enriching the nation's experience in this sector. They serve as ambassadors of the UAE’s values of tolerance, happiness, and positivity globally.
Sheikh Hamdan expressed gratitude to organisations supporting ERC’s activities aimed at training volunteers. These programmes enhance volunteers' capabilities, enabling them to perform their noble mission with efficiency and professionalism.
Volunteerism unites individuals across society during both peaceful times and crises. It embodies profound ethical values where volunteers collaborate with all community segments. This cooperation strengthens societal bonds and enhances the reach of humanitarian efforts.
The UAE's commitment to volunteerism reflects its dedication to fostering a culture of giving back. Through continuous support from leadership and institutions, the nation continues to advance its humanitarian goals effectively.
