Volunteers Unite To Distribute Iftar Meals During Ramadan, Strengthening Community Bonds
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the spirit of volunteerism flourishes, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. Young men and women across the nation dedicate their time and efforts to engage in various volunteer and charitable activities, thereby fostering social solidarity and nurturing a positive atmosphere within the community. This period offers a unique chance for individuals to partake in acts of kindness, aligning with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who highlighted the virtues of providing iftar to those fasting.
Under the guidance of accredited charitable organizations, volunteers distribute iftar meals that typically consist of dates, milk, and water. These meals are handed out in public spaces to those observing the fast. A notable initiative, "Abshir Bil-Futoor," has been making significant strides in the Eastern Region. Sponsored by Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Region, this initiative successfully brought together over 2,000 volunteers from various sectors to distribute 100,000 meals during its second year.

The Saudi Press Agency had the opportunity to speak with several volunteers involved in the Abshir Bil-Futoor initiative. Among them was Hussein Ali Al-Fatil, the initiative supervisor in Qatif, who reported that more than 250 volunteers helped distribute 4,000 meals across different locations while adhering to strict security and safety protocols. Volunteers Khalil Al-Madhkar and Nader Al-Sharqi shared their pride in contributing their time to serve society through this initiative.
Another volunteer, Mohammed Abdullah, shared a personal perspective on his involvement, highlighting how participating in Abshir Bil-Futoor with his family serves not only the community but also instills a sense of charitable values in his children. This initiative not only meets immediate needs by providing iftar meals but also plays a crucial role in promoting volunteerism and charitable work among younger generations.
The collective efforts of these volunteers during Ramadan exemplify the profound impact of community service on societal well-being. Through initiatives like Abshir Bil-Futoor, Saudi Arabia continues to nurture a culture of giving and solidarity that resonates with the core values of Ramadan.
