170 Volunteers Provide Essential Medical Services In Makkah During Ramadan

In a significant move to enhance healthcare services during the holy month of Ramadan, the Makkah Health Affairs General Directorate, in partnership with the Ministry of Health's "Sawaed" volunteer project, has initiated its annual medical campaign. This effort is designed to offer crucial medical and emergency assistance to Umrah performers and visitors, ensuring their well-being throughout this period.

The campaign leverages the Sawaed project, a dedicated platform for volunteer medical opportunities, to deliver first aid and other essential medical services at pivotal locations including the Grand Mosque and the Haramain Railway Station. The initiative not only focuses on providing immediate healthcare but also emphasizes educating visitors on basic health practices and raising awareness about health issues.

Volunteers Aid Makkah Visitors in Ramadan

At the heart of this year's campaign are 170 Sawaed volunteers, organized into six teams, who are stationed within the Grand Mosque to provide life-saving interventions and first aid. A novel feature of this year's effort is the introduction of "translator medics". This group comprises 12 volunteers proficient in multiple languages, aimed at bridging communication gaps between the medical teams and non-Arabic speaking patients.

To further bolster the effectiveness of the campaign, the directorate has equipped medical volunteers with 30 first-aid kits filled with necessary medical supplies. This ensures that comprehensive care is readily available for those in need during Ramadan.

In an effort to foster greater community involvement, the Sawaed project announces volunteer opportunities throughout the Ramadan and Hajj seasons. This initiative underscores a commitment to inspiring individuals to collaborate with the public health sector in delivering vital medical and emergency services to patients.

The launch of this annual Ramadan medical campaign by the Makkah Health Affairs General Directorate and the Ministry of Health's Sawaed volunteer project marks a critical step in ensuring the health and safety of Umrah performers and visitors. By mobilizing a dedicated team of volunteers and providing essential medical services, this initiative plays a key role in supporting the well-being of individuals during one of the most significant periods in the Islamic calendar.
