Voluntary Medical Program Commences At Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Hospital In Aden To Address Healthcare Needs

The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden has launched a voluntary medical program focusing on pediatric, urological, and women's and maternity surgeries. This initiative is spearheaded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY). Skilled medical professionals from Saudi Arabia are actively participating in this effort.

Since its inception in April, the program has been addressing various medical needs. It includes pediatric heart surgeries, catheterization procedures, treatments for ear, nose, and throat conditions, open-heart surgeries, brain and nerve operations, cosmetic procedures, burn treatments, and deformity corrections. The primary aim is to meet humanitarian healthcare requirements across all Yemeni governorates.

Medical Program Launches at Aden Hospital

The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital showcases its readiness through this extensive program under SDRPY. Between January 2023 and August 2024, the hospital provided over 1.8 million medical consultations. Spanning 20,000 square meters, it houses 270 beds and 14 specialized clinics, including a cardiac centre equipped with modern medical technology.

SDRPY's involvement extends beyond this program. It has initiated numerous projects to strengthen Yemen's healthcare sector. These include constructing and equipping hospitals, rehabilitating facilities, operating medical centres, and enhancing the skills of healthcare personnel.

The efforts of SDRPY align with broader developmental support across eight key sectors: education, energy, transportation, water resources, agriculture and fisheries development programs, as well as strengthening governmental capacities. These initiatives aim to provide holistic support to Yemen's infrastructure.

This comprehensive approach ensures that the healthcare needs of Yemen are met effectively while also contributing to the overall development of essential sectors within the country.
