India Minister Kumaraswamy Leads Delegation To UAE For Steel Sector Collaboration
H D Kumaraswamy, India's Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, recently led a significant delegation to the UAE from June 30 - July 2, aiming to bolster ties in the steel sector and explore new avenues for collaboration.
This delegation was composed of top officials from the Ministry of Steel and key leaders from India's premier steel companies, including Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), MECON Limited, and National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC), showcasing India's commitment to expanding its steel industry's global presence.

In a series of strategic meetings, the delegation engaged with high-ranking officials and industry leaders in the UAE. They inaugurated Representative Offices in Dubai, marking a crucial step towards enhancing the Indian steel sector's international outreach. This move underscores the Government of India's objective to encourage its steel companies to widen their operations and seize opportunities on a global scale.
The delegation's visit included productive discussions with UAE's top officials and industry visits, highlighting the mutual interest in strengthening economic and trade relations. On June 30, Minister Kumaraswamy met with His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, focusing on fortifying the steel collaboration between the two regions. The following day, discussions with Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE's Minister of Economy & Tourism, further emphasised the motive to enhance bilateral trade and economic ties.
Additionally, the Indian delegation explored several significant industrial sites, including the RAK Port, Stevin Rock quarries in Ras Al-Khaimah, and facilities of Emirates Global Aluminium and Conares Steel in Jebel Ali, Dubai. These visits offered insights into the UAE's advanced steel and aluminium production capabilities and provided platforms for potential future collaborations.
The visit also served as an opportunity for Minister Kumaraswamy to connect with the Karnataka Diaspora in the UAE, affirming the strong cultural and economic ties between the Indian community and the UAE. A roundtable discussion with steel companies, organized by the Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) Dubai, further highlighted the trip's focus on fostering a deeper understanding and cooperation in the steel industry among business leaders from both countries.
