Eng. Waleed ElKhereiji Addresses United Nations Conference On Victims Of Terrorism In Spain
Eng. Waleed ElKhereiji, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the United Nations International Conference on Victims of Terrorism in Spain. The event focused on "Education as a Tool for Prevention, Peace building, and Empowerment of Victims of Terrorism." In his address, Eng. ElKhereiji expressed gratitude to the United Nations and Spain for their efforts in combating terrorism.
He highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to fighting terrorism, stating that all forms are criminal and unjustified. Eng. ElKhereiji emphasised the importance of marking the International Day of Victims of Terrorism. He noted that preserving victims' rights and providing support is crucial in the fight against terrorism.

The Kingdom has taken significant steps to combat extremism through technology. It established the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology (Etidal), which focuses on monitoring and analysing extremist thoughts to prevent them. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's broader strategy to counter terrorism effectively.
Eng. ElKhereiji also mentioned Saudi Arabia's collaboration with international bodies like the United Nations Human Rights Council. The Special Rapporteur praised Saudi efforts in promoting human rights while countering terrorism. This cooperation underscores the Kingdom's dedication to addressing global security challenges.
The Vice Minister stressed the need for coordinated international efforts to empower terrorism victims through education and rehabilitation. Providing care and support is essential in limiting extremist ideologies and eradicating terrorism at its roots. Such collaboration ensures a comprehensive approach to tackling this global issue.
In his closing remarks, Eng. ElKhereiji reiterated Saudi Arabia's ongoing commitment to supporting United Nations initiatives against terrorism. The Kingdom remains dedicated to working with global partners to ensure peace and security for all nations affected by this threat.
