Vice Foreign Minister Eng. Waleed El-Khereiji Addresses Counter-Terrorism At Dushanbe Process Conference

Eng. Waleed El-Khereiji, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in the Fourth High-Level Conference on the Dushanbe Process in Kuwait. The event focused on enhancing international counter-terrorism cooperation and agile border security mechanisms. El-Khereiji delivered Saudi Arabia's address, highlighting the need for global collaboration to combat terrorism and ensure security and prosperity.

El-Khereiji emphasised that Saudi Arabia has been a pioneer in addressing terrorism at all levels. He noted that the Kingdom has implemented various measures to counter terrorist organisations and their activities. Additionally, Saudi Arabia prioritises youth issues, aiming to protect them from extremism while promoting strong religious and national values as part of Vision 2030.

Saudi Arabia's Commitment to Counter-Terrorism

Highlighting the global nature of terrorism, El-Khereiji stated that it is crucial to enhance cooperation through efforts led by the United Nations and its specialised agencies. The Kingdom has established effective communication channels with international and regional organisations to exchange information and expertise in combating terrorism and transnational crimes.

Saudi Arabia remains committed to being an active member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for combating money laundering and terrorism financing. It is also a founding member of the Global Counterterrorism Forum. These commitments underscore its dedication to international security cooperation.

The Kingdom has launched several initiatives on the international stage, including establishing the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue. Other notable efforts are the Ideological Warfare Center and forming the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition in 2015.

El-Khereiji expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its hospitality and Tajikistan for inviting him to the conference. He hoped that the discussions would lead to fruitful outcomes, strengthening joint efforts towards a safer future.
