Veteran Mutawwif Mohammed Sabgha Reflects On Profession's Legacy And Pilgrim Care In Saudi Arabia

The role of a mutawwif, or pilgrims' guide, is deeply rooted in the history of Makkah. This profession has been passed down through generations and involves welcoming and assisting pilgrims during Hajj. Responsibilities include managing accommodations, ensuring well-being, and coordinating services at holy sites. Additionally, mutawwifs arrange transportation and healthcare to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience.

Mohammed Sabgha, who has dedicated over 30 years to this vocation, shared insights with the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). He described the profession as a cherished legacy from ancestors. Sabgha stated, "serving pilgrims is an honor, not a burden." His words reflect the deep respect and commitment inherent in this role.

Sabgha highlighted significant advancements in services for pilgrims over the past three decades. He noted that improvements are evident in areas such as crowd management and healthcare. This plan spans from the conclusion of one Hajj season to the start of the next.

This app facilitates access to essential information and resources, making it easier for pilgrims to navigate their journey.
