Uzbekistan's Minister Of Environment Discusses Sustainability Initiatives At Zayed Foundation In Dubai
Aziz Abdulkhakimov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, recently visited the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment in Dubai. This meeting served as a platform for both parties to introduce themselves and discuss their roles and ongoing initiatives. The visit highlighted the growing environmental collaboration between Uzbekistan and the UAE.
The minister was accompanied by his advisor, Alisher Salomov, and the Uzbek Ambassador to the UAE, Abdulaziz Akkulov. They presented Uzbekistan's current projects focused on sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, desertification control, and climate change mitigation. These discussions underscored the necessity of international cooperation in tackling global environmental issues.

Dr Mohamed Ahmed bin Fahad, Chairman of the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment, welcomed Abdulkhakimov warmly. He expressed gratitude for the collaboration between their organisations. Bin Fahad emphasised that the foundation is eager to expand international cooperation and share expertise in environmental fields.
The foundation is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and serves as a global model for promoting environmental action. It honours significant contributions to environmental protection and natural resource preservation. Bin Fahad presented Abdulkhakimov with a trophy and publications highlighting their shared vision for sustainability.
The minister invited Bin Fahad to participate in two significant upcoming events. The first is the High Level Segment of CITES COP20 in November 2025 in Samarkand. This event will focus on monitoring, funding, and action for regulated wildlife trade during CITES' 50th anniversary.
The second invitation was for the Eco Expo Central Asian planned for May-June 2026. This event aims to foster international cooperation and dialogue on eco-innovation. Both events reflect a commitment to strengthening ties through shared environmental goals.
This visit highlights Uzbekistan's dedication to sustainable development alongside UAE's efforts. Their mutual commitment to combating climate change on a global scale is evident through these collaborative initiatives.
