US Delegation Led By Consul-General Robert Raines Visits Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival To Explore Contemporary Art

A delegation from the US Consulate, led by Consul-General Robert Raines, visited the Sharjah Art Museum. This visit was part of the cultural activities for the 26th Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival, themed "Lantern." The event underscores Sharjah's role as a centre for contemporary Islamic art and creativity.

The delegation was received by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qaseer, who is both the Director of Cultural Affairs at the Department and the Festival's Director. Khalid Muslit, Head of the Festival’s Media Committee, also welcomed them. Al Qaseer highlighted this year's festival features, which showcase Sharjah's global artistic influence.

US Delegation Visits Sharjah Arts Festival

The Consul-General praised H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for his unwavering support of cultural initiatives in Sharjah. This backing has solidified Sharjah's reputation as a hub for international artistic dialogue and a destination for creators worldwide.

During their visit, the delegation explored various artworks displayed at the festival. These included murals and both solo and group exhibitions. The Consul-General admired the artists' professionalism and their ability to reinterpret Islamic art while maintaining its traditional essence.

The Consul-General emphasised the festival's cultural significance in preserving Islamic art identity. He noted its role in showcasing how Islamic art can evolve with time while resonating with new generations' tastes, thus reinforcing its place in global art.

He also highlighted that UAE-US relations extend beyond economic ties to include a rich cultural partnership based on mutual respect and shared appreciation for creativity. This collaboration aims to enhance knowledge exchange and support diverse art forms.
