UOS Hosts Second International Innovation Forum To Explore Sustainable Innovation And Future Technologies

The University of Sharjah (UOS) hosted the Second International Innovation X.0 Forum, themed "Towards a Sustainable and Innovative Future." This event, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, aimed to explore innovation's role in sustainability. Organised by UOS's College of Engineering and College of Computing and Informatics, it was supported by the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC).

Professor Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of UOS, welcomed attendees and highlighted the forum's significance in promoting sustainability through education and research. He expressed gratitude to SNOC for sponsoring this platform that encourages collaboration among scholars and experts. The forum showcased pioneering research contributing to a sustainable future.

Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, former UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, emphasised the forum's importance in addressing climate change issues. He discussed how technology and AI can mitigate climate impacts and pollution while advancing sustainability. He stressed global cooperation to achieve environmental goals for future generations' health.

Khamis Al Mazrouei, Deputy CEO of SNOC, expressed pride in supporting the forum as a knowledge exchange platform for scientists and students worldwide. He highlighted SNOC’s commitment to funding university research to bridge theory with practice, transforming ideas into practical solutions.

Al Mazrouei stated, "For the energy sector, innovation is not just a goal; it is a necessity. From enhancing efficiency and safety to achieving sustainability targets, we must leverage technology and creativity to stay ahead. At SNOC, we are committed to fostering research, embracing digital solutions, and collaborating across industries."

The first day featured keynote talks on topics like sustainable innovation with blockchains, green economy advancements, air mobility challenges, recommender systems trends, renewable energy technologies, climate change impacts, cybersecurity threats, and future communication networks.

Exploring Emerging Technologies

The second day focused on renewable energy advancements, emerging AI technologies, industrial ecosystems development, and smart building innovations. Keynotes addressed health and safety in construction and building technologies' role in promoting sustainability. An undergraduate student competition session was also held.

Participants presented posters and papers covering various themes such as STEM's role in developing entrepreneurial skills among graduates. They explored effective building design strategies, strategic digital alignment for workforce agility enhancement through AI impact on employee behaviour.

Diverse Research Topics

Research topics included sustainable waste-to-energy conversion solutions, AI adoption in UAE banking sector practices improvement methods for transportation safety accessibility enhancement architectural design roles using AI techniques.

The forum brought together over 130 research papers discussing Industry X.0 developments sustainable built environments renewable energy advancements artificial intelligence applications cybersecurity measures among other fields fostering interdisciplinary collaboration academia industry government towards shared vision smart digital green future.
