NCM Predicts Unstable Weather Conditions With Heavy Rainfall And Strong Winds

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert for the UAE, forecasting unstable conditions due to a combination of low surface pressure from the southwest and humid southeasterly winds. This situation is further compounded by an upper air pressure extension, accompanied by a northwest air current. Residents can expect a shift in weather patterns starting Sunday, with predictions indicating partly cloudy to cloudy skies and potential rainfall across various regions of the country.

According to the NCM, Sunday will witness light to moderate rainfall, which may intensify in certain areas, particularly over internal and southern regions. The weather instability is expected to escalate on Monday and Tuesday as the low pressure deepens, leading to an increase in cloud coverage across scattered areas. These conditions will be accompanied by convective clouds, bringing rainfall of varying intensities, lightning, thunder, and possibly hail in some locales.

Unstable Weather Alert by NCM

By Wednesday, the cloud cover is anticipated to gradually diminish, yet rainfall will persist during the daytime in some areas, especially in the northern and eastern parts of the UAE. This will coincide with a noticeable drop in temperatures across these regions.

The upcoming weather conditions will also affect wind patterns and sea states. From Sunday to Tuesday, moderate to fresh south-easterly to north-easterly winds are expected, shifting to north-westerly winds that may strengthen at times. This is particularly likely in the presence of convective clouds, which could lead to blowing dust and sand, reducing horizontal visibility and causing lightweight objects to be airborne. Wind speeds are forecasted to decrease by Wednesday, remaining moderate to fresh at times.

The sea state will mirror the atmospheric instability, with moderate to rough conditions anticipated in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea on Monday and Tuesday. These conditions are expected to become particularly turbulent with cloud activity but should moderate by Wednesday.

This weather forecast underscores the dynamic nature of atmospheric conditions affecting the UAE. Residents and visitors are advised to stay updated on the latest weather reports and take necessary precautions during adverse weather events.
