University Of Sharjah Tops UAE Universities In Four Disciplines In Times Higher Education Rankings 2026
The University of Sharjah strengthened its global profile in the Times Higher Education (THE) subject rankings for 2026, taking leading positions among UAE universities across several disciplines. The institution improved or maintained its standing in multiple subject bands worldwide, reflecting sustained performance across teaching, research, and subject-level outputs.
A key highlight came from the College of Law, which joined the THE subject rankings for the first time. In this debut, the University of Sharjah ranked first in the UAE for law, and entered the global 176–200 band. This entry reflects recent enhancements in legal research activity and programme development within the college.

The University also led UAE institutions in physical sciences, where it was placed in the 201–250 band globally. This position signals consistent strength in physics, chemistry, and related areas. It aligns with the University’s broader emphasis on experimental research, laboratory infrastructure, and collaboration with international partners in basic and applied sciences.
Health and medical sciences saw the University of Sharjah secure second place nationally, with a global ranking in the 201–250 band. This represented a clear rise compared with the previous year. At the same time, the University sustained its 201–250 global band positions in both business and economics, and education studies.
In social sciences, the University preserved its status as the top institution in the UAE. Globally, it moved into the 201–250 band, improving on its earlier world position. The University also continued to lead domestically in arts and humanities for a second year, while being listed between 301–400 worldwide in that subject grouping.
