University Of Sharjah And Eli Lilly Strengthen Partnership For Advancing Public Health Research Initiatives
The University of Sharjah (UOS) is enhancing its global collaborations through a new partnership with Eli Lilly and Company (Lilly), a leader in pharmaceuticals. A delegation from Lilly visited UOS to discuss joint efforts in public health, research, and education. This meeting underscores both institutions' dedication to healthcare innovation and improving community well-being.
The discussions centred on the growing public health challenges posed by non-communicable diseases like obesity and diabetes. These talks highlighted the need for evidence-based research to create effective prevention and treatment strategies aligned with the UAE's national health priorities.

Representatives from UOS included Professor Rifaat Akram Hammoudi, Acting Director of the Research Institute for Medical and Health Sciences (RIMHS); Dr. Wafaa Al Nakhi, Director of the Centre for Excellence in Public Health; and Professor Farah Naja from the College of Health Sciences. They were joined by members of the Health Promotion Research Group.
The collaboration aims to establish a long-term strategic partnership that will enhance research capabilities, promote educational exchange, and support innovative public health solutions across the UAE. Both parties are committed to leveraging their strengths to achieve these goals.
Lilly's delegation included Dr. Anna Koroleva, Medical and Cardiometabolic Lead for the Middle East; Tania Tannous, Associate Director for Public and Government Affairs, Value, and Access for the Middle East and North Africa; and Dr Dianne Dao, Regional Director for Real-World Evidence and Medical Research.
Utilising Combined Expertise
This partnership will combine Lilly's pharmaceutical expertise with UOS's academic excellence to develop impactful programmes aimed at improving health outcomes. The focus will be on creating community-driven initiatives that enhance quality of life throughout the region.
