University Of Sharjah Alumni Association Launches Eighth Chapter In Qatar To Strengthen Global Connections
The University of Sharjah's (UoS) Alumni Association has launched its Executive Committee in Qatar, marking the eighth international chapter. This development highlights the University's global alumni network expansion and strengthens its academic and professional presence worldwide. The new chapter aims to connect graduates globally and support future initiatives.
During an event at the National Museum of Qatar, around 150 alumni from Qatar and several from the UAE attended the inauguration. Prominent attendees included Rashid Abdulrahman Al Ali, Chargé d’Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Qatar; Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj, Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs; Dr. Amal Al Ali, Director of the Alumni Association Office; Abdullah Saleh Al Shehhi, Consul and Head of Support, Consular, and Citizen Services; Khamis Al Matrooshi, Specialist in Consular and Citizen Services; and Maryam Sultan Al Shamsi, Senior Alumni Officer at the Association.

The University of Sharjah Alumni Association Office also organised a joint forum for graduates from UoS and Qatar University. Hosted by Qatar University, this event was attended by a delegation from UoS, Dr. Harib Al-Jabri, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs, senior officials from Qatar University, and alumni from both institutions.
Panel discussions during the forum showcased inspiring success stories of alumni. These narratives illustrated how their academic training helped them achieve career goals and contribute to their countries across various fields. Discussions also explored opportunities for collaboration in education, research, and community service.
The UoS delegation engaged in community activities and academic meetings during their visit to Qatar. They toured the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST), guided by Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST; Dr. Rashid Al Amri, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Najla Ibrahim Al Muhanna Al Naimi, Director of Partnerships and Contracts Department; and Moza Al Kuwari, Business Expert.
During this tour, they visited laboratories, research centers, and the College of Health Sciences to understand the academic programs offered and technologies used in education. The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields between UoS and UDST.
Strengthening Ties with Educational Institutions
The UoS delegation also visited Qatar's Ministry of Education and Higher Education to explore cooperation with local academic institutions. Dr. Salah Taher Al Haj stated that launching the Executive Committee in Qatar reflects UoS's commitment to maintaining communication with graduates while recognising their contributions to their countries.
Dr. Amal Al Ali commended members' efforts in establishing the chapter in Qatar. She emphasised their dedication to maintaining strong ties with UoS as ambassadors within their communities.
This initiative aims to enhance academic collaboration between UoS and Qatari educational institutions while supporting community development regionally and internationally.
