Union Association For Human Rights Showcases UAE's Humanitarian Efforts At AidEx 2024 In Geneva

The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) took part in the AidEx 2024 conference, a significant event focused on humanitarian aid and disaster relief, held in Geneva, Switzerland. This two-day gathering coincided with Development2030, a global forum aimed at uniting international development actors to achieve sustainable development goals.

During the conference, UAHR underscored the UAE's extensive humanitarian and relief efforts in conflict-affected regions worldwide. The association introduced various UAE institutions involved in these services, highlighting the country's pivotal role as a hub for humanitarian operations. Dubai International Humanitarian City (IHC), known as the largest humanitarian logistics centre globally, was presented as a strategic location supporting international relief efforts.

UAE's Humanitarian Efforts Highlighted at AidEx

The annual AidEx event showcased cutting-edge technologies, relief programmes, and strategies for international humanitarian support. It featured high-level panels and specialised workshops discussing the safe and effective delivery of aid in conflict zones globally. On the sidelines, UAHR highlighted key initiatives launched by UAE leadership to alleviate suffering in conflict zones.

One notable initiative is "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3" in Gaza. This effort received recognition from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). In 2024, the UAE ranked first among Arab nations and second globally in providing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Other significant UAE initiatives include humanitarian efforts in Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Lebanon. These initiatives demonstrate the UAE's commitment to addressing global humanitarian challenges. The delegation's participation aimed to foster partnerships with active civil society organisations within the global development sector.

Maryam Al Ahmadi, Vice President of UAHR, led the delegation at AidEx 2024. The event reinforced the UAE's leadership role in humanitarian aid and its contribution to sustainable development across various communities worldwide.

The conference provided a platform for discussing strategies to ensure safe aid delivery in conflict zones. It also emphasised the importance of collaboration among international actors to address global humanitarian needs effectively.
