UNA-OIC Executive Council Approves Draft Resolutions For Joint Islamic Media Enhancement

The Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UNA-OIC) executive council convened for its 26th meeting. Ali bin Abdullah Alzaid, acting chairman and president of the General Assembly, led the session. The OIC Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha and other council members participated in this virtual gathering.

Alzaid highlighted the need for a transformative approach in media operations to keep pace with industry changes. He stressed that the union is pivotal in driving initiatives that focus on digitization and improving media production processes using advanced technologies.

UNA-OIC Approves Resolutions for Islamic Media

The OIC secretary-general praised the union's recent progress and achievements. He acknowledged new media projects designed to bolster the organization's media capabilities and enhance news agency infrastructure across member states. These efforts aim to strengthen collaborative Islamic media initiatives.

Ahmed Assaf, General-Supervisor of Official Media for the State of Palestine, lauded UNA-OIC's advancements under its current leadership. He expressed gratitude for the union’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, highlighting its significant role in promoting this issue.

During the meeting, the executive council approved several key financial documents. The union's final accounts and budget for 2025 received approval, alongside various draft resolutions. These resolutions are intended to boost cooperative efforts within Islamic media and will be presented to the organization’s General Assembly.

Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, UNA-OIC Director-General, underscored the importance of aligning with member states' aspirations in the media sector. He emphasized ongoing efforts to meet these expectations through strategic planning and implementation.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among members to continue enhancing media collaboration across Islamic nations. This dedication reflects a unified approach towards addressing challenges and seizing opportunities within the evolving media landscape.
