250 Movable Umbrellas Installed At Prophet's Mosque For Visitor Comfort And Safety

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recently unveiled a significant enhancement to the Prophet's Mosque, aimed at improving the experience for its visitors and worshippers. The introduction of the Courtyards' Shading Project stands out as a thoughtful initiative, featuring 250 custom-designed, movable umbrellas. These are not ordinary umbrellas; they are a testament to the Kingdom's commitment to providing comfort and protection to those who come to this sacred site.

Strategically positioned within the mosque's surrounding courtyards, these umbrellas fulfill a crucial dual function. They offer solace and tranquility to guests by shielding them from the harsh elements, whether it be the intense heat of the sun or unexpected rainfall. Additionally, over 1,000 lighting units have been incorporated into the design, ensuring that the area remains well-lit and welcoming even after sunset.

The capacity of these umbrellas is equally remarkable. A single umbrella can accommodate up to 900 worshippers, allowing for over 228,000 individuals to gather under the shade provided by all the umbrellas at the Prophet's Mosque. This significant capacity demonstrates the project's scale and its contribution to facilitating larger congregations during important religious gatherings.
