UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer Highlights Cultural Values During Visit To Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque In Abu Dhabi
Keir Starmer, the UK Prime Minister, recently toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. He was joined by Mansour Belhoul Al Falasi, UAE Ambassador to the UK, and Edward Hobart, UK Ambassador to the UAE. Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director General of the mosque centre, guided them through the mosque's impressive halls and corridors.
The delegation explored the mosque's rich history and architectural splendour. They admired its unique Islamic art and collections that showcase a blend of diverse artistic styles. This masterpiece symbolises cultural unity through its harmonious design.
During their visit, they learned about the mosque's cultural mission. It promotes coexistence, tolerance, and openness, drawing inspiration from the founding father's values. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre plays a crucial role in spreading Islamic culture and fostering cross-cultural dialogue globally.
Prime Minister Starmer remarked on the longstanding relationship between the UAE and the UK. He stated, "The UAE and the UK share a long history and a deep relationship that spans centuries. It has been an honour to visit Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, where I have seen the impactful efforts to promote shared human values across religions and cultures, which strengthen the ties between all."
Starmer noted how people worldwide gather peacefully at this iconic site. He observed ongoing cooperation between both nations in promoting shared values. The visit highlighted efforts to strengthen ties through cultural understanding.
The tour concluded with a special gift for Starmer from the mosque. He received a compass inspired by its chandeliers and a book titled "Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: A Lights of Peace." This publication showcases award-winning images from the "Spaces of Light" Award.
The book offers readers a visual journey into the mosque's architectural grandeur. It highlights its unique style while celebrating its artistic beauty through stunning photography.
