UAE Views Youth As Sustainable Wealth, Focuses On Future Skills Development

The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, prioritises youth as a vital resource. Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, emphasised this in an interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on International Youth Day. He highlighted the nation's commitment to equipping young people with future skills and harnessing their potential to align with the country's comprehensive development vision.

Dr. Al Neyadi noted that youth empowerment has been a core principle in the UAE since the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Sheikh Zayed believed in the capabilities of young people and made them central to achieving significant milestones across various sectors. This legacy continues today, with youth seen as key drivers of national progress.

This year's International Youth Day holds special significance for the UAE, coinciding with the recent launch of the "National Youth Agenda 2031". This agenda aims to position Emirati youth as exemplary figures both locally and globally. It focuses on fostering thought leadership, upholding values, and contributing effectively to economic and social development.

The National Youth Agenda 2031 outlines five strategic goals for Emirati youth. These include becoming major contributors to national economic growth and community development while adhering to Emirati values. Additionally, it aims for them to drive positive global change, stay abreast of technological advancements, master future skills, and maintain high standards of health and quality of life.

Dr. Al Neyadi also discussed this year's International Youth Day theme, "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development". He stressed that the UAE has been proactive in embracing this trend by making significant strides in digital innovation. The country recognises that empowering youth with digital tools, artificial intelligence, and modern sciences is crucial for current and future progress.
