UAE Wrestling Federation Launches Comprehensive Strategy To Enhance Wrestling And Youth Participation
The UAE Wrestling Federation has unveiled a comprehensive plan to boost wrestling both locally and globally. This initiative aligns with the UAE leadership's vision to promote sports, engage youth, and nurture a competitive generation. The announcement took place at a press conference held at Rotana Yas Island Hotel, attended by key figures from the federation and sports council.
The strategy includes hosting competitive tournaments, such as the UAE Wrestling Federation Cup scheduled for 22nd-23rd February at Mubadala Arena. This event will feature 300 athletes from various clubs and academies. Additionally, the federation aims to expand community involvement by increasing participating clubs from five to 12, with a goal of reaching 15 by year-end.

Efforts are underway to involve 10 schools in wrestling activities during the first year, with plans for further expansion. The federation is also focusing on coaching development by recruiting top local and international coaches. Training programs will be based on global best practices to enhance the skills of athletes.
Mouza Al Ali, a board member of the UAE Wrestling Federation, emphasized the ambition to strengthen wrestling among youth in a safe environment. She highlighted the sport's rapid growth and stressed the importance of strong partnerships to sustain progress.
Sultan Al Ketbi, CEO and board member, described digital transformation as crucial for enhancing wrestling's status. The introduction of an electronic registration system and live streaming aims to boost audience engagement. He also reaffirmed commitment to talent development through collaborations with clubs and academies.
Nasser Khamis Al Marri from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council confirmed support for the federation, particularly through events like the UAE Wrestling Federation Cup. He noted wrestling's role as both a competitive and community sport that contributes to fitness and sportsmanship.
Support from IVSM and Infrastructure Development
Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager of IVSM, reiterated their dedication to sports development. With experience in hosting over 250 international tournaments, IVSM will continue supporting talent development and global exposure for UAE wrestlers.
During the press conference, agreements were signed with IVSM and Khorfakkan Club to enhance sports infrastructure. These partnerships aim to develop athletes and prepare them for Olympic-level competition.
