UAE Achieves Seventh Consecutive Term On ICAO Council, Reinforcing Global Aviation Leadership
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has secured a seat on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council for the seventh time in a row. This achievement was confirmed during the 42nd ICAO Assembly session held in Montreal, Canada, from 23 September to 3 October 2025. The UAE's success underscores its prominent role and global trust in the civil aviation sector.
Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the GCAA Board, expressed pride in this accomplishment. He stated: "This renewed success is a global recognition of the UAE’s journey in civil aviation and a testament to the success of our strategy in building strong regional and international partnerships." The UAE's aviation sector contributes significantly to its economy, accounting for around 18% of the national GDP.

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum highlighted that this victory reinforces the UAE's leadership in civil aviation. He noted that it reflects international confidence in the UAE's strategic management and investments in advanced infrastructure and skilled talent. The UAE's balanced diplomatic initiatives have earned it trust both regionally and globally.
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa emphasized that this re-election demonstrates international recognition of the UAE's balanced approach to aviation development. He noted that it provides a safe environment for air transport while investing in national talent and infrastructure. This achievement reflects confidence from regional and international partners.
Sheikh Khalid Bin Isam Al Qasmi praised the strategic vision of UAE leadership, which has made its civil aviation sector a model globally. Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi highlighted that securing a seat on the ICAO Council shows international recognition of the UAE's contributions to global aviation safety and efficiency. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Salami congratulated UAE leadership on this achievement, noting it reflects growing stature as a key diplomatic partner. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi remarked on the significance of this seventh consecutive victory: "The UAE’s seventh consecutive victory is an achievement we are all proud of, reflecting our solid standing and the trust of the international aviation community." Since joining ICAO Council in 2007, the UAE has been influential in strategic discussions.
