UAE To Experience Rapid Weather Changes, Temperatures To Hit 40°c

As the UAE prepares for further heavy rainfall anticipated in the coming days, a historic shift in weather patterns has been noted with the onset of Kanat Al Thuraya. This period, which commenced with temperatures nearing the 40°C mark, heralds the arrival of peak summer heat, diverging sharply from the spring climate previously experienced across the region.

The first day of Kanat Al Thuraya alone witnessed temperatures close to 40°C, indicating a significant transition in the UAE's weather conditions. Expected to continue until June 7, this season is characterized by drier air and reduced humidity levels, marking the UAE's journey into the core of summer.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Association, emphasised the importance of this season for the Arabian Peninsula. He noted that Kanat Al Thuraya delineates the supremacy of the summer climate system, beginning with the disappearance of the Al Thuraya star cluster and concluding as it becomes visible again in the early June dawn sky. This cycle not only signifies the shift towards hotter days but also underscores the intricate relationship between celestial movements and terrestrial weather patterns.

Following the summer solstice in June, when the sun's rays directly hit the Tropic of Cancer, the UAE officially enters summer, experiencing the longest day of the year. The season gradually cools down with the rising of the Suhail star approximately two months later, symbolizing the end of the peak summer temperatures.

This climatic progression comes in the wake of the UAE recording its highest-ever rainfall on April 16, a phenomenon described as a year's worth of rain falling in just one day. With the National Centre of Meteorology issuing warnings about "unstable weather conditions" expected on May 2, the region remains vigilant, closely monitoring the evolving weather patterns as it transitions through this significant seasonal phase.
