Dubai Rains: MoHRE Urges Private Companies To Apply Flexible Work Patterns
In response to the challenging weather conditions affecting the UAE, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has made an urgent appeal to the private sector, advocating for the adoption of flexible work arrangements for employees. This announcement underscores the ministry's dedication to ensuring the well-being of workers, particularly those in outdoor roles where halting operations is not feasible.
MoHRE emphasised the critical need for employers to prioritise the health and safety of their workforce, especially during their commute and while on the job site. This reiteration follows the ministry's prior guidance aimed at protecting outdoor workers by meeting essential occupational health and safety standards.
Amid these unpredictable weather conditions, the government has instituted remote working protocols for all public sector employees for the dates of Thursday, April 17, and Friday, April 18, 2024. This directive, however, exempts individuals whose presence is indispensable at their workplace. Concurrently, educational institutions across Dubai and other Emirates have been directed to implement remote learning strategies, incorporating modified schedules and additional breaks to accommodate students.
Despite these widespread disruptions, certain services and locations, including parks, have announced they will remain accessible to the public. The severe weather has also sparked community acts of heroism, with stories emerging of residents stepping in to assist those affected by the storms, floods, and resulting power outages. These conditions have not only impacted human lives but also left pets unattended, highlighting the broader social and environmental consequences of the inclement weather.
In light of these developments, authorities continue to issue warnings to the public, advising against venturing into hazardous areas, particularly flowing valleys during the rainy weather. This precautionary measure aims to safeguard residents and visitors from the dangers posed by the unstable weather conditions sweeping across the nation.
