UAE Issues Red Alert For Severe Weather, Remote Working And Distant Learning To Continue On Wednesday

As the UAE faces worsening weather conditions, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has escalated its warnings, issuing a red alert across more areas of the country. Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution as the NCM predicts hazardous weather of exceptional severity. The Centre has communicated via X the areas most at risk, distinguishing them with orange alerts for those that should be particularly vigilant, and yellow alerts for areas anticipating milder conditions.

From late Monday into Tuesday, the UAE experienced a dramatic shift in weather, marked by continuous thunder, lightning, and heavy rainfall. This severe weather event is part of an ongoing spell of instability affecting the region from Monday through Wednesday, attributed to an extension of low surface pressure combined with two waves of unstable weather moving across the UAE on Tuesday.

In response to the deteriorating conditions, various measures have been implemented to ensure public safety and minimize disruptions. The UAE Government has advised government employees to work from home on Wednesday. This directive extends to Dubai, where remote working has been mandated for government employees and private school students. Private sector companies are also encouraged to adopt remote working arrangements during this period.

Sharjah has followed suit, with federal employees instructed to work from home. Educational institutions in both emirates, encompassing both public and private sectors, will switch to online classes on Wednesday, ensuring the continuity of education while prioritizing the safety of students and staff.

This series of precautions highlights the severity of the current weather conditions and the importance of adhering to safety advisories issued by the NCM and local authorities. Residents are advised to stay informed through official channels and to prepare for continued weather-related disruptions.
