UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed And Vietnamese Prime Minister Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with His Excellency Pham Minh Chinh, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, during an official visit to the UAE. Their discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation to promote progress and prosperity for both nations. The meeting took place at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where Sheikh Mohamed expressed hopes for expanding UAE-Vietnam relations.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, was also present. The leaders explored opportunities to build on historical ties, particularly in economy, trade, investment, culture, climate action, and renewable energy. These areas are crucial for the sustainable development goals of both countries.

The discussions highlighted the continuous growth in economic and trade relations between the UAE and Vietnam. Non-oil trade reached US$12.12 billion last year, showing a 38.7 percent increase from 2022. This growth underscores the importance of their partnership in achieving mutual development goals.

Sheikh Mohamed reiterated the UAE's commitment to strengthening relations with Vietnam since diplomatic ties were established in 1993. He emphasised that these efforts serve mutual interests and fulfil aspirations for development and prosperity among their peoples.

Both leaders exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. They stressed their commitment to promoting peace and stability through diplomatic solutions and peaceful initiatives to address conflicts. They agreed that stability is essential for achieving development for nations and their peoples.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister expressed his country's eagerness to enhance cooperation with the UAE. He highlighted exploring new opportunities for economic partnerships that align with shared interests and future aspirations.

Cultural Exchange and Diplomatic Relations

The Prime Minister conveyed appreciation for the warm welcome extended during his visit. He wrote a message in the Qasr Al Watan VIP guestbook expressing pleasure at visiting the UAE and hopes for continued growth in relations between the two countries.

A luncheon was held in honour of the Vietnamese Prime Minister and his delegation. The event was attended by several ministers and senior officials from both sides, further cementing diplomatic ties through cultural exchange.

The UAE's role as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner with ASEAN was also discussed. Sheikh Mohamed affirmed commitment to enhancing economic partnerships with Vietnam, which is the UAE's largest non-oil trading partner among ASEAN countries.
