UAE And USA Commit To Enhanced Consular Services In Fourth Joint Meeting
The United Arab Emirates and the United States convened their fourth Joint Consular Committee session in Washington. The aim was to enhance cooperation in consular services for citizens of both nations. Khalid Abdulla Belhoul, Under-Secretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Hugo Rodriguez, Acting Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Bureau of Consular Affairs, chaired the meeting.
Khalid Belhoul conveyed greetings from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He praised the positive developments between the two countries and emphasised the UAE’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, reflecting the aspirations of its leadership.

Belhoul highlighted the historic ties between the UAE and USA since 1972. He noted that these relations are built on mutual understanding and respect. He also appreciated the US efforts in enhancing bilateral relations, which have seen significant progress across various fields in recent years.
During discussions, both sides addressed several common consular issues related to citizens' affairs. They proposed initiatives aimed at improving services to meet citizens' expectations while aligning with strategic plans in the consular field.
Belhoul reiterated that the UAE and USA have established an advanced model for strategic relations. This model has led to numerous achievements across multiple sectors. These accomplishments encourage further progress towards shared development goals and solutions for future cooperation in consular matters.
Representatives from various UAE entities, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security, participated in the meeting. Their US counterparts from relevant authorities were also present.
The meeting underscored both nations' commitment to providing excellent consular support and services to their citizens. This collaboration aims to ensure that consular services meet high standards and fulfil strategic objectives.
The session concluded with a mutual agreement to continue working towards greater achievements in consular cooperation. Both countries aim to develop mechanisms that will foster a future rich in partnerships within this field.
