The UAE participated in the inauguration of several cultural and heritage sites in Mosul, Iraq. This event was attended by Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani, the Prime Minister of Iraq. The UAE's involvement was part of a collaborative effort with UNESCO and the European Union to restore these sites. Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, led the UAE delegation.

He emphasised the role of culture in promoting coexistence and aiding community recovery. The UAE's partnership with UNESCO aligns with its vision to support global efforts in protecting human heritage and fostering cultural dialogue.

Al Kaabi expressed gratitude to the Iraqi government and UNESCO for their cooperation in reconstructing Mosul’s historical sites. She stated: "Since signing the agreement with Iraq and UNESCO to take part in the ‘Revive the Spirit of Mosul’ initiative, the UAE has remained committed to restoring the Great Mosque of Al-Nuri, its Al-Hadba Minaret, and the Al-Tahera and Al-Sa’aa churches."
The restoration project aimed at reviving Mosul’s identity and memory. Al Kaabi highlighted that under His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s directives, this reconstruction is seen as an international responsibility. The collaboration between Iraq, UNESCO, and the UAE serves as a model for international cooperation in safeguarding human heritage.
Sheikh Salem noted that the ‘Revive the Spirit of Mosul’ project exemplifies international collaboration. It involved not only rebuilding historic landmarks but also implementing training and educational programs for local empowerment. Symbolism of Reconstruction
Al Kaabi remarked on Mosul's revival as a symbol of resilience: "When the minaret rose again, it was not merely an architectural achievement, but a declaration that Mosul’s voice is stronger than all those who sought to silence it." This restoration signifies hope for Mosul’s future as a city of civilisation and coexistence.
The ceremony saw attendance from various dignitaries including Abdulla Matar Al Mazrouei, UAE Ambassador to Iraq; Ali Al Haj, UAE Permanent Delegate to UNESCO; Khaled Al Nuaimi from the Federal Youth Authority; along with senior officials from both nations.
