UAE-Ukraine Joint Committee Fourth Session Advances Bilateral Cooperation And Trade Prospects
The UAE and Ukraine agreed to deepen cooperation across economic and humanitarian fields during the fourth session of the UAE–Ukraine Joint Committee in Abu Dhabi. The meeting, co-chaired by Reem Al Hashimy and Taras Kachka, focused on trade, investment, Ukraine’s recovery, infrastructure rebuilding, and broader engagement between government bodies and private companies from both countries.
Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, led the session at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters. Nearly 30 public and private entities from both sides attended, underlining shared interest in long-term collaboration and practical projects in multiple sectors supporting development priorities.
Participants reviewed the growing momentum in UAE–Ukraine relations, noting efforts to widen cooperation and encourage joint public-private initiatives. Both sides highlighted that closer coordination can support cross-continental partnerships and contribute to global economic stability. Officials underlined that regular meetings of the Joint Committee help turn agreed priorities into concrete programmes and investments that reflect mutual strategic interests.
Al Hashimy said the Joint Committee serves as a key platform to highlight progress since diplomatic ties began in 1992. She stated that relations have strengthened through mutual trust, regular dialogue, and shared development goals. She expressed confidence that future collaboration will continue to develop as both sides align policies and identify new areas for cooperation.
Al Hashimy underscored that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, once in force, is expected to open further trade and investment channels. The agreement aims to create new commercial opportunities for companies in both countries. She encouraged stronger private sector engagement to maximise the CEPA framework and build diversified, resilient economic links between the UAE and Ukraine.
During the session, Al Hashimy urged the UAE business community to study prospects in Ukraine, especially in ports and logistics, construction, and both traditional and renewable energy. The two delegations also discussed cooperation in industry, agriculture, water, health, space, culture, sports, and youth programmes, viewing these areas as important for sustainable growth and long-term food and energy security.

Officials highlighted plans to back the restoration of critical infrastructure and continue humanitarian initiatives. These efforts are designed to aid stability, encourage reconstruction, and create conditions for increased regional and international trade involving Ukrainian and Emirati partners.
UAE–Ukraine Joint Committee mediation efforts and peace talks
Al Hashimy welcomed the trilateral talks hosted in Abu Dhabi last week, which brought together Russia, Ukraine, and the United States to discuss the conflict in Ukraine. She noted that the meeting showed the international community’s trust in the UAE’s role and its consistent policy of backing peace efforts and turning complex challenges into practical opportunities for people in both countries and the wider region.
Al Hashimy also praised diplomatic efforts by the United States, stating that she commended US President Donald Trump for his role in facilitating the talks, helping to reinforce stability, and supporting the political process. She added that such dialogue complements the broader work of the UAE–Ukraine Joint Committee in linking economic cooperation with diplomatic engagement and humanitarian initiatives.
{TABLE_2}She highlighted the UAE’s mediation record between Russia and Ukraine, noting that 17 mediation efforts have supported prisoner exchanges. These exchanges led to the release of 4,641 detainees from both sides. Al Hashimy said this experience reflects the depth of the UAE’s relations with both countries and its standing as a trusted partner for diplomatic and humanitarian solutions.
The session closed with both delegations signing the minutes of the Joint Committee and stressing the need for continued consultations among relevant authorities. On the sidelines, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture signed a Letter of Intent on food security, covering data sharing, expertise exchange, and joint investments in agriculture, food processing, and distribution as part of expanded cooperation.
