UAE And Uganda Collaborate On US$20 Million Eye-Care Hospital Project In Entebbe
Under the guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has partnered with Uganda to construct a comprehensive eye hospital in Entebbe. This initiative, overseen by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, involves a US$20 million investment. The agreement was signed by Sultan Mohamed Al Shamsi for the UAE and Vincent Bagiire Waiswa for Uganda.
H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed emphasised the UAE's commitment to enhancing global healthcare and addressing medical needs in Africa. He highlighted the country's dedication to humanitarian efforts and its role in promoting development and stability worldwide. This project is part of strategic partnerships aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in Africa.

The UAE aims to establish 10 specialised hospitals over the next decade through Erth Zayed Philanthropies. These hospitals will serve underserved communities, providing essential healthcare infrastructure. This initiative reflects the leadership's commitment to bridging healthcare gaps globally under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's guidance.
Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State and Chair of the International Health Advisory Committee, stated that this agreement signifies strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Uganda. He said, "Through the implementation of development projects that address community needs and provide sustainable and pioneering solutions, the UAE and Uganda are reaching new horizons in cooperation, particularly in healthcare."
The establishment of the eye hospital in Entebbe underscores both nations' commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing health objectives. The project aims to improve medical service efficiency, achieve high care standards, enhance healthcare infrastructure, and ensure health access for all.
Sheikh Shakhbout noted that these initiatives aim to benefit thousands suffering from eye conditions. The collaboration between the UAE and Uganda represents a significant step towards meeting community needs through sustainable solutions.
