UAE Delegation Engages With Turkmenistan To Enhance Strategic Bilateral Relations

Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, along with Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, recently visited Turkmenistan. The delegation included representatives from both government and private sectors in the UAE. They were joined by Ambassador Dr. Mohammed Al Ariqi from the Presidential Court and Ahmed Al-Hay Al-Hameli, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan.

The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and explore cooperation in oil and gas, clean energy, infrastructure, and other key areas. Opportunities for joint investments between the two nations were also discussed. Meetings were held with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan; and Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan.

The UAE delegation conveyed greetings from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Turkmenistan’s leadership. They wished for continued progress and prosperity for the country. Greetings were also extended from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, as well as His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In response, the President of Turkmenistan sent his best wishes to the UAE's leadership and people. He expressed a strong desire to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors for mutual benefit. This commitment was echoed during meetings with Ashirguly Begliev, Advisor on Oil and Gas Affairs, Batyr Amanov, Deputy Prime Minister for Oil and Gas Affairs, among other senior officials.

The visit underscored both countries' dedication to advancing economic cooperation in investment, cultural exchange, tourism, and social sectors. This collaboration aims to benefit both nations' peoples significantly. Non-oil trade between the UAE and Turkmenistan reached approximately AED3.8 billion in 2023.

During the first nine months of 2024, non-oil trade saw a growth exceeding 75% compared to the same period in 2023. The trade volume hit around AED4.2 billion due to an increase of over 82% in re-export activities.

This visit highlights a shared vision for stronger ties between the UAE and Turkmenistan across multiple sectors. Both countries are committed to fostering relationships that will lead to mutual growth and prosperity.
