UAE Dominates Day One Of Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship With Russia In Second Place
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Championship kicked off at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City. This event, running until May 18, features over 2,500 athletes from 66 nations. The first day focused on amateur and masters divisions, drawing a large crowd and showcasing the UAE's significant role in promoting jiu-jitsu globally.
Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, a Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, highlighted the championship's importance as a leading global platform for the sport. He noted that the UAE's efforts are crucial in fostering jiu-jitsu's growth and developing talented athletes. Al Batran praised the high technical level of matches and expressed pride in Emirati athletes' performances.

At the end of day one, the UAE topped the medal standings, followed by Russia and Kazakhstan. This result underscores Emirati athletes' excellence and competitiveness on an international level. The championship continues to be a key milestone for many athletes due to its fierce competition and exceptional organization.
Several winners shared their joy over their victories. Russian athlete Timur Abdullah secured gold in the blue belt 77kg category. He remarked: "Winning in this tournament feels special due to its strong competition and high-quality organization. I thank the organizers and look forward to more success in the future."
Emirati champion Mana Al Marzouqi also celebrated his success after winning gold in the 94kg division. He stated: "It was an incredible day. I performed in a way that reflects the hard work and preparation I’ve put in. This event is one of the highlights of my sports journey."
The championship will continue with advanced divisions featuring brown and black belt categories. Anticipation is high for exciting matches as competitors aim for podium finishes and prestigious titles at one of the world's top jiu-jitsu championships.
