UAE Team Emirates-XRG Achieves Double Triumph With Almeida And Baroncini Victories In Europe
UAE Team Emirates-XRG celebrated a remarkable weekend with two significant victories. João Almeida secured the overall title at the Tour de Suisse, while Filippo Baroncini achieved his first General Classification win at the Baloise Belgium Tour. These triumphs marked the team's 50th win of the 2025 season, highlighting their impressive performance.
Almeida's success came after an outstanding ride in the final Stage 8 uphill time trial. He overcame a 33-second gap to surpass Kévin Vauquelin from Arkéa–B&B Hotels, clinching the overall victory at the Tour de Suisse. His performance throughout the week demonstrated consistency and tactical skill, recovering from a challenging start where he lost over three minutes on a wet stage.

Almeida's determination was evident as he clawed back seconds, ultimately winning three stages and claiming the black points jersey. Reflecting on his victory, Almeida stated, "You should never give up. Sometimes things go wrong and nothing is perfect, but you need to keep trying. We kept trying and we did it. I’ll have time to enjoy this win, and I’ll be ready for the Tour de France."
Meanwhile, Filippo Baroncini delivered a breakthrough performance at the Baloise Belgium Tour. He defended his overall lead during the final flat stage in Brussels, securing his first-ever stage race GC victory. Baroncini donned the violet leader’s jersey after Stage 4 in Durbuy and maintained his position with strong support from UAE Team Emirates-XRG.
The Italian cyclist successfully held off all competitors to seal his overall classification win by a narrow yet decisive margin. This achievement marked an important milestone in Baroncini's career and added to UAE Team Emirates-XRG's successful season.
The team's accomplishments over this weekend underscore their strategic prowess and resilience in competitive cycling events. With these victories, UAE Team Emirates-XRG continues to demonstrate their strength and potential for future races.
