UAE Commits To Ukraine's Reconstruction, Advocates For Peace At Berlin Event
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) participated in the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) held from 11th to 12th June in Berlin, Germany. The event focused on Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction efforts. During the conference, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Ukrainian people and emphasised the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving the ongoing conflict.
Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, led the UAE delegation. She highlighted the UAE's dedication to maintaining communication channels with all parties involved in the conflict. The UAE has facilitated captive exchanges four times this year, showcasing its strong relations with both sides.

Al Hashimy also underscored the UAE’s commitment to a robust partnership with Ukraine through finalising the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This agreement marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations between the two nations.
The UAE has allocated US$105 million for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This aid includes food and medical supplies, ambulances, generators, laptops, and educational materials to assist Ukrainian civilians and children. The UAE also outlined future support plans focusing on enhancing Ukraine’s educational and healthcare systems, including women’s and mental health services.
Bilateral Meetings
On the sidelines of the conference, Al Hashimy held several bilateral meetings. These included discussions with Olena Zelenska, the First Lady of Ukraine; Thomas Bagger, State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany; and Jens Ploetner, Political and Security Advisor to the German Federal Chancellor.
Al Hashimy was accompanied by Ahmed Al Attar, UAE Ambassador to Germany. These meetings aimed to strengthen diplomatic ties and discuss further cooperation in supporting Ukraine's recovery efforts.
The UAE's participation in the URC underscores its ongoing commitment to humanitarian aid and diplomatic solutions in international conflicts. The country's efforts highlight its role as a key player in fostering global peace and stability.
