UAE Endorses ICJ's Call For Enhanced Humanitarian Aid To Gaza Strip
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially expressed its support for the new provisional measures issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning the ongoing case of genocide brought forward by the Republic of South Africa against Israel. These measures call for Israel to facilitate the entry of increased humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and to open additional crossing points for the transfer of essential food and medical supplies.
Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, highlighted the UAE's commendation for South Africa's initiative in this matter. She reiterated the critical need for civilian protection in conflict zones and stressed the urgency of ensuring that humanitarian and relief aid reaches the Gaza Strip promptly, sustainably, and without any barriers.

In a move aimed at preventing further casualties and de-escalating tensions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the UAE called for concerted efforts to mitigate what it described as an "extremely critical and deepening humanitarian catastrophe" affecting innocent civilians in Gaza. Al Hashimy emphasized the necessity of establishing a political framework conducive to realizing a two-state solution. This solution envisions an independent Palestinian state existing peacefully alongside the State of Israel, thereby offering a sustainable resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that ceases all forms of violence and hostilities.
The UAE's stance underscores its commitment to working with international partners to significantly reduce the humanitarian suffering in Gaza. This approach not only aligns with global efforts towards peace and stability in the region but also reflects the UAE's broader foreign policy objectives aimed at fostering international cooperation and solidarity in times of crisis.
By advocating for increased humanitarian assistance and a viable political pathway towards peace, the UAE reinforces its role as a key player in international diplomacy and humanitarian efforts. The nation's support for these provisional measures issued by the ICJ marks a significant step in its ongoing endeavors to facilitate meaningful dialogue and action that addresses both immediate needs and long-term solutions in conflict-affected areas.
