UAE Commits Additional $4.5 Million To Support Foster Families And Orphanages In Ukraine

The UAE Aid Agency has pledged US$4.5 million to the Olena Zelenska Foundation. This funding will enhance facilities for foster families and orphanages in Ukraine. The initiative marks the second phase of a project that initially saw the UAE build fully equipped centres for Ukrainian foster families, ensuring a secure environment for children who have lost their parents.

Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, emphasised the UAE's dedication to aiding vulnerable communities globally. She noted that this project demonstrates solidarity with Ukrainians, especially women and children needing special care. The UAE has been actively involved in humanitarian efforts since the conflict began.

UAE Pledges $4.5 Million for Ukraine Aid

The UAE has sent numerous relief flights carrying over 1,015 tonnes of medical, food, and relief supplies. Additionally, 50 ambulances and more than 4,500 electric generators were provided to help with harsh winter conditions. These actions highlight the UAE's commitment to alleviating the humanitarian impact of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

In support of education, the UAE supplied 7,500 laptops and 10,000 school bags. Two relief ships were also dispatched to Romania. These efforts have reached over 1.2 million people, including one million women and children. The UAE's comprehensive approach underscores its commitment to supporting those affected by the conflict.

Reem Al Hashimy also highlighted the UAE’s successful diplomatic mediations between Russia and Ukraine. Through these efforts, 12 mediations have been completed, resulting in 2,883 captives being exchanged between the two nations via UAE mediation. This reflects the country's role in fostering dialogue and de-escalation.

Commitment to Peaceful Resolution

The UAE remains committed to pursuing peaceful solutions to the conflict in Ukraine. Reem Al Hashimy reaffirmed this stance by advocating for diplomacy and dialogue as essential tools for resolving disputes. The cooperation agreement was signed by Sultan Mohamed Al Shamsi on behalf of the UAE during a meeting attended by Al Hashimy and Olena Zelenska.

These initiatives underscore the UAE's unwavering commitment to international humanitarian efforts and its proactive role in supporting peace and stability in regions affected by conflict.
